A plain-English summary of Virgin's three official policies — Sailor Conduct, Onboard Policies and Prohibited Items — so nothing catches you off guard at the pier. Virgin's full policies always govern; links are at the bottom.
Pack this — it's allowed
- ✓Two 750 ml bottles of wine per cabin — carry-on only, not in checked bags.
- ✓Twelve sealed 12 oz non-alcoholic cans or cartons.
- ✓Sealed, pre-packaged, non-perishable snacks in reasonable amounts.
- ✓Curling irons, flat irons and hair dryers.
- ✓Grooming scissors, metal nail files and cuticle tools.
- ✓Golf clubs (kept in your cabin). Bikes need advance approval.
- ✓Personal speakers — cabin use only. They are NOT PERMITTED in public spaces, venues, bars or out on deck.
Hard liquor in luggage is taken at check-in and returned at the end of the voyage. Same for anything you buy in port.
Leave it home — it will be taken
- ✗Illegal drugs and non-prescribed controlled substances — including medical marijuana, synthetic marijuana and CBD, even if legal where you live.
- ✗Weapons, replicas, ammunition, explosives; martial arts and self-defense items; handcuffs and restraints.
- ✗Blades over 4 inches; hand and power tools.
- ✗Candles, incense, hookahs, torches, fuels and aerosols (personal toiletries are fine). Extension cords, power strips and celebratory lights need approval.
- ✗Drones (held until your home port), scooters, skateboards, hoverboards, roller skates, surfboards, scuba tanks.
- ✗Coolers and ice chests, unless for medication or dietary needs.
- ✗Pepper spray, bleach, ammonia, pesticides, spray paint, spillable batteries. Wheelchair batteries are fine.
- ✗Satellite phones, Starlink, routers, HAM radios, EPIRBs.
- ✗Homemade, pre-cooked or perishable food.
- ✗Seashells, coral and marine souvenirs — receipt or not. Fresh flowers and potted plants too. Fake shells are OK.
- ✗Smart glasses and discreet recording devices — never in spas, saunas, restrooms or on back-of-house tours.
Dress code & deck etiquette
- ›"Dress Up. Dress Down. Just Dress." Your style is your style — bring the looks.
- ›Wear more than swimwear in the restaurants, and shoes inside the ship.
- ›Nudity and indecent exposure are not allowed in public areas — Virgin specifically names jockstraps worn in public as a violation. Bolder attire is welcome at themed events in the designated venues, so save those looks for our parties — but getting there counts too: wear proper, ship-appropriate attire to and from your cabin, and change once you are inside the venue.
- ›Topless sunbathing only at The Perch, Deck 17. Elsewhere you may loosen or unfasten straps as long as you stay covered.
- ›Never sit, stand, lie or climb on any railing, inside or out.
- ›No chair hogging — anything left on a lounger over 40 minutes goes to Lost Property on Deck 5. Same for saving seats in the theater.
- ›Pools and hot tubs are closed outside posted hours. Keep cabin noise down.
Drinking, smoking & vaping
- ›Drinking age is 18 in international waters, 21 in U.S. waters, and local law in port.
- ›Drink responsibly — crew can and will refuse service. Hiding alcohol, drinking underage or handing drinks to a minor are all policy violations.
- ›No smoking or vaping in cabins or on balconies. Designated public areas only.
- ›The casino is non-smoking; there's a smoking room on Deck 6.
- ›Never toss anything overboard — cigarette butts included.
Conduct — the non-negotiables
- ›No harassment, uninvited physical contact, stalking, solicitation or sexual misconduct — with Sailors or crew.
- ›No slurs or hate speech based on race, religion or sexual orientation, and no displaying hate symbols — the policy applies regardless of the medium.
- ›No starting verbal confrontations, threats, violence, theft or vandalism.
- ›Crew are off-limits. Virgin prohibits physical relationships between crew and Sailors, and crew may not socialize beyond their professional duties. Crew areas and other Sailors' cabins are off-limits too.
- ›Follow crew safety instructions, and attend the muster drill — it's mandatory.
- ›Tell the crew if you or someone you know has symptoms of a contagious illness before or during the voyage.
- ›The Captain can set a curfew for an individual, a group or the whole ship if needed.
In port
- ›Bring The Band and a government-issued ID every time you go ashore.
- ›Local law applies ashore — arrest and being left behind are real outcomes.
- ›Some ports restrict what you can carry off: meats, plants, shells and sand.
- ›These rules also apply on transfers, in the terminal, on shore excursions and at Virgin's Beach Club at Bimini.
If you break the rules
Virgin's stated consequences include disembarkation at the next port with no refund — you cover your own hotel and flights home — plus confinement onboard, refused service, loss of onboard privileges, fees and reimbursement of Virgin's costs, being banned from future voyages, and referral to law enforcement.
One more thing, from us
We're all here to have a great time, and nobody is asking anyone to be someone they're not. We're not the fun police — but Virgin's policy is clear that public areas are public areas. So if things head in a fun direction, take the activities back to your cabin and keep the public venues, decks, bars and hot tubs PG-13. It keeps everyone comfortable, it keeps us in good standing with Virgin, and it keeps this sailing happening for years to come. Thank you for looking out for each other.
